LED Save Five Time Energy

"LEDs consume five times less energy than halogen bulbs and their elimination will help reduce carbon emissions by more than 15 million tonnes per year, an amount equal to Portugal's annual electricity. The Philips lamp manufacturer estimates that the savings for each consumer from switching will reach 112 pounds per year as LEDs have a much longer life than halogen lamps and use far less energy. "

Of course, we have no reason to reject a lamp that uses much less energy and helps reduce electricity bills. But you do not have to be a bold supporter of Brexit to wonder if this thing really needs to be imposed from above.

It is also qualitatively different with, for example, application by the British state of smart cash, which is a welcome tool for the daily British who allows him to see how much electricity he uses and possibly reduce his consumption where it is feasible.

First of all, every braked-out company will in any case use LED lamps instead of halogen if it saves money. As far as simple consumers are concerned, they will not need a highly elaborate advertising campaign to convince them of the advantages of LEDs against halogen.

Market mechanisms make our lives cheaper and better without the need for policy engagement at all. Why legislate for something already done on the market?

It seems to me that what is actually happening here is how the EU is legislating so that credit can be credited for something that would happen in an organic way anyway, which is probably the oldest political marketing trick that exists.
